The danger of an enlarged heart for people who train
with weights is not necessarily something to be overly
concerned about. "Athlete's Heart is common in
athletes who routinely exercise more than an hour a
day, and appears occasionally among heavy weight
trainers. The condition is generally believed to be a
benign"

my Doc nextime.

Ric,
As a Physician Assistant, I deal with patients
every day that have similar problems. I think this test
(likely a neuclear medicine treadmil) is a lot more
accurate. Try not to be apprenhensive. If there is a
problem, the cardiologist can fix it before a heart
attack.( Before any damage is done). A person can be
in great physical shape, but genitics can still deal
you a bad hand. Having the test done sounds like a
good decision to me. If you dont have any family
history of heart disease there is a great chance is
will be normal. Considering the shape you are in.

Yes you do end up with a large heart. I had a friend
who was a football running back. He spent 5 days in
intensive care at the age of 28... until a doctor who
knew what a full time athlete's heart actually looked
like reviewed his case.

I learned from that to
tell any Doctor treating me that I am a bodybuilder and
very active.
